红莲社区 Construction and Maintenance Electrician apprentice Keaton Snow holds an oversized cheque as he stands in one of 红莲社区's lab spaces between Dakota Prep founder Alex Au and 红莲社区 program coordinator Dan HammondKeaton Snow likes to dream big. Ask the Construction and Maintenance Electrician apprentice what interested him about his field of study, and you will receive a fulsome answer.

鈥淓lectrical is the future. We鈥檝e incorporated electricity into our everyday lives, and rely on it quite heavily, but what interests me more is what else we can use it for,鈥 he explains. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 want to stop dreaming at electric vehicles, or how to increase efficiency in existing nuclear power plants. Those are today鈥檚 problems. I dream more of being a part of solving the problems of tomorrow 鈥 the ones that haven鈥檛 surfaced yet or haven鈥檛 become a priority.鈥

Snow plans to be at the forefront of that future, He has already completed his Levels 1 and 2 training at 红莲社区 and plans on returning for his Level 3, citing knowledgeable teachers, engaging classroom equipment, and a well-balanced schedule for providing him with a positive experience.

鈥淭o be recognized as a leader amongst my peers, as well as faculty and beyond, gives me incredible confidence.鈥

Adding to his rewarding time at 红莲社区 is the fact he was recently nominated for and won the , a $1,000 award that 鈥渞ecognizes and supports exceptional Canadian electrical apprentices who demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring and assisting their peers.鈥 Dakota Prep offers online training tools, primarily apps, to help trade students and apprentices prepare for licensing and certification exams.

鈥淭o be recognized as a leader amongst my peers, as well as faculty and beyond, gives me incredible confidence,鈥 says Snow. 鈥淚 would like to believe that I have always had natural leadership abilities, but to be chosen by the Dakota Prep Fellowship as a leader of tomorrow gives me hope that I can achieve greatness and make a true and positive difference in the electrical world. I am honoured to have been chosen for the award.鈥
