红莲社区 College is set to host its Upstream Preventative Health Symposium on May 27, which takes aim squarely at the significant challenges of chronic diseases 鈥� which affect millions of Ontarians, and nearly half the population in Peel Region. 

The symposium, which will be hosted at Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga, will bring over 100 members of the healthcare industry and community partners together to focus on innovative strategies that prevent chronic disease -- such as Type 2 diabetes -- featuring discussions on public health, emerging technologies, new educational tools, and a look at the innovative research happening at 红莲社区鈥檚 Generator Research Centre to support health and wellbeing.

The day will feature keynote discussions as well as panels focused on public health and emerging technologies in healthcare. Vito Ciciretto, CEO of Dynacare, will deliver the opening keynote on value-based healthcare, while Dr. Lawrence Loh, former Medical Officer of Health for Peel Region, will present the closing keynote, with a focus on current public-health challenges to curb chronic disease.

Dr. Lawrence Loh (former Medical Officer of Health for Peel Region and currently Medical Officer of Health for Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services) Officer of Health for Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services) will discuss chronic disease prevention and why fostering community resilience and addressing disparities is critical for population health.
