We didn’t want to wait until year's end to celebrate how ºìÁ«ÉçÇø has unlocked impact in 2025 â€” so we’re sharing a collection of mid-year reflections now. 

From supporting students in achieving their goals and dreams, to celebrating their successes, to watching our graduates shine locally and around the world, we’re proud to share student stories of student impact. 

This year, we’ve launched new initiatives, strengthened partnerships, expanded pathways for current and future students, and continued to innovate, using research to make our communities stronger. 

Read on to explore the stories we're celebrating so far in 2025 â€”&²Ô²ú²õ±è;and the many ways ºìÁ«ÉçÇø is making a difference.

Supporting students

January 2025

Honours Bachelor of Illustration students supported Lighthouse for Grieving Children with their work on a book which will support grieving children.

Honours Bachelor of Interior Design student Francesca Mak raised more than $23,000 for the program’s grad show and led professional learning activities for peers. The show welcomed 350 guests, including 150 design industry members.

ºìÁ«ÉçÇø alumni received record-setting 79 nominations and 21 wins at the Canadian Screen Awards.

ºìÁ«ÉçÇø grads were honoured with Brampton Citizen Awards for their contributions in the areas of sports, arts and community service.

New initiatives

June 2025
ºìÁ«ÉçÇø launched Nova, an initiative designed to help creatives thrive in a rapidly changing world.

ºìÁ«ÉçÇø launched 13 new programs with intakes set for September 2025 and January 2026. The programs provide value to students and align with industry and community needs. 

Advancing Truth and Reconciliation

June 2025
The Office of Indigenous Engagement and Education (OIEE) delivered Medicine Wheel teachings that helped students explore personal strengths and leadership.

ºìÁ«ÉçÇø signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with
Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation to strengthen Indigenous presence and partnerships.

January and March 2025
The OIEE hosted two sessions in the ongoing Reconciliation Series â€“ Resilience in Reconciliation with Kendal Netmaker and Justice in Reconciliation with Angela Sterritt and Brandi Morin. The series, launched in fall 2024, was created to support and guide people on their journey toward reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. 

Innovating in healthcare

May 2025
ºìÁ«ÉçÇø hosted the Reimagining Healthcare symposium to address significant challenges of chronic diseases. The event brought together over 100 members of the healthcare industry and community partners to focus on strategies that prevent chronic illness.

Expanding pathways

April 2025
The Magna Skilled Trades Centre welcomed more than 2,400 Peel elementary students for a skills competition.
